About

About the vault

A fan archive for Voltron. The episode guide, the encyclopedia, the toy shelf, the comics and the news beat.

What this site is

voltronvault.com is a fan project. It is not a business, it is not official, and it is not affiliated with the rights holder. It covers all four cartoons, the two Japanese anime the 1984 series was built out of, the encyclopedia of pilots and lions and worlds, the comics, and forty years of toys from Matchbox and Panosh Place through to the diecast being made now.

Why a vault, and not just a site

Voltron arrived in pieces. The 1984 series is two unrelated Japanese cartoons under one name, plus twenty episodes with no Japanese original at all, and the three series that followed each took a different view of what had happened before. Most of what gets written about the franchise quietly picks one version and moves on.

We would rather keep the pieces together and leave the seams showing. Where two sources disagree, and on Voltron they disagree constantly, both are published with the names attached; where something could not be verified, the page says so instead of rounding it into a fact.

How it is run

A hobby project, with no paywalls, and editorial decisions sitting with the maintainers. Part of the HERO80 network, so one account works across all of its sister sites.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did. Getting a correction is the point of an archive rather than an embarrassment to it.
